Mind is an Action

In this clip taken from the 10th discourse on Patanjali Yoga Sutras, Swamiji shatters the myth of the mind. In this discourse Swamiji delves into depths of abhayasa. He teaches us that mind is an action it is a verb! Problems are not permanent or impermanent as you think.

Problems Can Dissolve Problems

In this clip taken from the 10th discourse on Patanjali Yoga Sutras, Swamiji sheds light on aparigraha.

Decide to Un-Clutch and Drop your Mind Now!

In this clip taken from Patanjali Yoga Sutras discourse eleven (sutra fourteen), Nithyananda sheds more light on the deeper secrets about body and mind. Nithyananda describes his very own experience of the process of psychological death where he used this very technique of Patanjali for enlightenment. When he sat at Manikarnika Ghat with resolve to sit there forever, the power which was resisting lost hold on his consciousness. That very moment the mind came back to the present moment. Your idea about the future plays a major role in your present actions. Nithyananda then teaches us that the idea you have of your body and mind is either your best friend or your worst enemy. Happiness, joy, bliss are nothing but the ideas we have of our mind and body.

Danger of Practicing Techniques Without Understanding

In this clip taken from Patanjali Yoga Sutras discourse eleven (sutra fourteen), Nithyananda sheds more light on the paradox of the mind. He warns us about the dangers of practicing techniques without understanding. Even while enlightenment was the only priority for Buddha, it took him over 12 years to attain the truth. Only through understanding the truth of dirgakalah as expounded by Patanjali, Buddha was able to instantly achieve enlightenment. As long as there is a hope for change, mind will continue to survive. Only when you take away the hope, mind will die and you will fall into the present moment. This is a paradoxical truth in that practice end when you decide you will practice forever!

Do Not Let Your Mind Cheat You

In this clip taken from Patanjali Yoga Sutras discourse eleven (sutra fourteen), Nithyananda expounds on the word dirgakalah that Patanjali uses to describe the practice of a technique for a long time. Nithyananda says that Patanjali does not use this word to cheat us. In fact Patanjali knows the intricacies of the workings of the mind. Unless the mind knows and is convinced that the practitioner commits to doing a practice indefinitely, mind will continue to postpone and cheat. Nithyananda sheds more light on this paradoxical truth giving example from the life of Buddha. After 12 years of penance it is only when Buddha decides that he will sit forever to attain enlightenment, he dropped into the present moment and got enlightened at that very moment. Nithyananda then goes on to shed more light on this paradox by describing the concepts of chronological versus psychological times.

Sampragnata Samadhi Experience of Paramahamsa Nithyananda

On April 21st 2009, Paramahamsa Nithyananda delivered his first scheduled discourse on Patanjalis Yoga Sutra at the Sri Radha Krishna Temple in Houston, Texas. He commented on the seventeenth Patanjali Yoga Sutra. Nithyananda expressed deep gratitude for his upbringing in a small Indian temple village where his inner space was not corrupted and the vitarka (right reasoning) was able to flower. He narrated the beautiful incident from his biography (feeding the Ganapati idol in his young age). He said that the right reasoning helped him to connect very deeply to the Ganapati idol as pure energy, in so much that Ganapati was alive in front of him and ate the food he offered! Nithyananda declared this incident as his first experience of samprajnata samadhi.

Asampragnata Samadhi Experience of Paramahamsa Nithyananda

On April 22nd 2009, Paramahamsa Nithyananda delivered his second scheduled discourse in Houston, Texas. He moved into the eighteenth sutra of Patanjalis Yoga Sutra, where Patanjali explains the next level samadhi after sampragnata samadhi. Nithyananda narrated one beautiful incident from his biography that explained how he moved from sampragnata samadhi to the higher state of asampragnata samadhi. He narrated the beautiful incident he had with the very form of Arunagiri Yogeeshwar and how asampragnata samadhi was experienced when he un-clutched from his form. Nithyananda said that when he experienced the peak joy and the complete pain possible with that form, he went beyond both joy and pain, relaxed and merged with the very form of Arunagiri Yogeeshwar! He experienced that there was not two there, just one!

Why Do Masters Repeat The Same Truth

In this clip taken from Patanjali Yoga Sutras discourse eleven titled, ‘Power of Practice - The Alpha of Bliss’, Nithyananda tells us that each sutra of Patanjali is independently intelligent to lead one to enlightenment. Patanjali is an amazing intellect that happened on planet earth. Nithyananda then goes on to remind us that Masters are continuously talking, producing spiritual literature day in and day out. This is required since the disciple needs to be constantly reminded to practice the truth. By the very nature, senses are created to look outward. Turning you in towards your inner space is not that easy. Human beings need to be constantly inspired to look inwards.
